Get Help Learning English

On this page, you will find information and resources to help you learn English and succeed in American higher education.There are several programs and offices located on campus that are dedicated to academic success.

The Writing Center provides help with writing papers, proof reading, and grammar. Tutors are available to help students with brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and other writing needs or questions. Writing help is available on-campus at the Writing Center in E. H. Butler Library and the Academic Commons. Online resources are also available. Click the quick links on the left hand side to find out more information.

Academic Support Programs are designed to assist any and all students, regardless of academic level or major. All of the programs share one mission -to help all Buffalo State students realize their fullest academic, intellectual, and professional potential. You can check out the tutoring schedule, contact an advisor, or learn more about taking an academic transition course by going to the Academic Commons website.

TOEFL Materials

You can search TOEFL guide book by type in "TOEFL guide" and select "Book" to search in Library's searching engine Summon. If Butler library doesn't have what you need, you can request books from other libraries by using InterLibraryLoan. Come to the Reference desk if you need help.

Buffalo State University Speech-Language-Hearing Clinic Accent Reduction Program

SLP 100 (1 Credit) is offered to any international undergraduate student wishing to improve their pronunciation skills in English. Graduate students can receive services directly through the clinic without enrolling in SLP 100.
