Alma Migration

This guide will house information about Alma specific to Buffalo State's migration process.

Overview

Alma/Primo has been selected as the replacement for Aleph/Summon. Both systems were developed by ExLibris.

  • The term of the contract is 5 years with two 5 year renewals.
  • The cost is expected to be equivalent to the cost of Aleph and Summon.

If you are a faculty member seeking Primo training for your department - Please submit requests for training through the library’s web form, indicating PRIMO TRAINING as the course name and number.

Timeline - implementation

April 19 2019: P2E submission to OLIS
April 26 2019: submit cutover migration form - stop all Aleph table changes except 16,17,32
May 10 2019: All data cleanup in Aleph ceases
May 17 2019: OCLC master record query submitted
May 24 2019: Alma configuration freeze
May 26 2019: Alma NZ populated from OCLC master records
May 27 2019: Tech services freeze - no more BIB or ITEM records
May 28 2019 Buffalo State begins cutover
May 29 2019: Circulation freeze - offline circulation only
May 30 2019: ExLibris migration activities begin

June 10 2019:

Alma delivered - data review begins

June 13 2019

Buffalo State finishes cutover and is live on Alma

* July 1 2019 - August 16 2019 - Aleph extended use period (no web OPAC, no OCLC services)

** Summon remains active for 90 days post cutover
