Alumni

Alumni Association members can receive borrowing privileges from the library through the Friends of the Library program at no cost. All graduates of Buffalo State are automatically enrolled as members and entitled to the privileges of the Buffalo State Alumni Association.

Present your Alumni ID card to the Circulation Desk to receive borrowing privileges. Visit the Alumni Association webpage to request your free Alumni Card.

  • Accounts expire annually; ID verification is required to renew accounts.
  • Up to 10 items may be checked out at a time as long as your account is in good standing with no fines or overdue materials.

Alumni are welcome to bring a laptop and access our guest wifi. Alumni can also access Alumni Editions for our most popular databases - Academic Search Complete and Business Source Complete. Find instructions for access on the Alumni Association webpage (scroll down to Online Library Databases).

Visiting Students and Faculty

Butler Library participates in the AcademicSHARE program. This program allows members of other AcademicSHARE libraries to use and borrow materials. Check with your college or university library for more information. Students from other SUNY libraries can borrow materials as walk-in borrowers. Guest wifi is available at the library for use with personal devices.

Scholars Affiliated with a Buffalo State Department

Scholars from other institutions working with a department at Buffalo State must present a letter on letterhead from the Buffalo State department chair with whom they are affiliated. These visiting scholars will have borrowing privileges and access to computers.

In order to get access to electronic resources, visiting scholars will need Buffalo State network credentials. IT should be able to provide that access via a Network Access for New Personnel ticket. Please indicate visiting scholar as affiliation.

Community Members

Community members are cordially invited to join the Friends of the Library to receive library borrowing privileges and guest Wi-Fi access for personal devices.
