Supporting Butler Library directly impacts the academic and personal success of Buffalo State students! Our three priority areas are:

1. Improving our Spaces

Over 300,000 people visit the library each year and no other building on campus has more impact on more people than Butler Library. Your support will help us keep our spaces up-to-date, welcoming, and inspiring. Our space priorities include making improvements to:

• Rooftop Garden: outdoor space for readings, meetings, and other outdoor activities
• Curriculum Materials Lab: our family-friendly space
• Archives & Special Collections: reading room for interacting with and showcasing our distinctive collections

2. Evolving our Collections 

Help us keep our collections responsive to the evolving teaching, research, and creative needs of the Buffalo State University community. In addition to our core collections of books and online resources, your support will help us develop our unique archival collections, including:

• Monroe Fordham Regional History Center
• Madeline Davis LGBTQ+ Archive of Western New York
• Buffalo Courier-Express Newspaper Collection

3. Expanding Support for Course Material Affordability

Many students struggle with the high costs of textbooks and other course materials. Your support will help the library expand our Alternative Learning Materials Initiative, including our: 

• Print textbooks on reserve collection
• Library licensed e-books that can be used as teaching materials
• Promotion and support for the use of open educational resources (OER)
