Introduction to the U.S. Census Data Tools

Learn to explore and analyze population, housing, economic, and geographic census data using the American FactFinder tool. Whether you need census data for your own research or want to be able to help your students with their research, this workshop will give you a solid introduction to this wealth of data. This session will be taught by Butler Library faculty. 

Locating and Using Electronic Resources in Your Course

This workshop will provide guidance for locating electronic resources and learning materials – such as library materials, open educational resources, and multimedia – for your courses. Attendees will learn about Butler Library’s resources for video, audio, images, and e-books, and will get an introduction to licensing and the proper use of materials. This session will be taught by Butler Library faculty.

Library Resources for Faculty and Staff

This workshop will introduce new and returning faculty to the services available to them through Butler Library. Attendees will learn how to request library materials, how to schedule a library instruction session, how to contact your liaison, etc. This class will be taught by Butler Library faculty.

Understanding OER Workshop Series

Schedule any individual workshop or the full three-workshop series. Participants who complete all three workshops in the series will earn an "ALMI OER Champion" certificate. These workshops are a collaboration between Butler Library, Instructional Design and Training, and the Affordable Learning Materials Initiative.

1. An Introduction to OER and Creative Commons

In this workshops, participants will learn the basics of open educational resources and open licensing.

2. Locating, Evaluating, and Incorporating OER

In this workshops, participants will learn how to find and evaluate high-quality, appropriate open educational resources for their courses. This workshop will also provide guidance on incorporating OER into Blackboard.

3. Creating and Sharing OER

In this workshops, participants will learn best practices of creating, licensing, and sharing open educational resources.

Understanding Scholarly Impact

Wherever you are in your academic career, understanding scholarly impact can help you decide where to publish; helps you see the impact of your publications; and helps you explain the importance of scholarship to your students. This session will provide a solid overview of scholarly impact to give you insight into this important field in academics. This session will be taught by Butler Library faculty. 

Using Citation Managers in Your Research

Citation managers make your research easier by organizing and managing your citations and articles. Keep track of your own research, or help students organize and cite their research for their own projects. This session will be taught by Butler Library faculty.
