True Stories: Film and the Non-Fiction Narrative (pp. 43-86) by Kevin Dwyer, Ph. D.This essay focuses on questions of genre, authorship, and realism in mainstream Hollywood film adaptations of non-fiction writing. My goal is to bring us closer to the very boundaries of the fatal attraction between fiction and non-fiction, so we can better measure to what extent our non-fictions are potentially fictions, and at what point our fictions become history.
