The Chronicle is the top destination for news, advice, and jobs for people in academia. It features daily news, advice columns, job listings, an archive of previously published content, discussion forums, and career-building tools.
If you’re off campus, go to Chronicle.com and click on the “Log In” link at top, right-hand side of the web page (scroll to the bottom of the page on mobile devices). Choose the “Create an account now” option. Enter and confirm your campus e-mail address, then follow the steps on the account setup pages.

The following databases are collections of newspapers that focus on diverse groups from around the country and around the world.
Ethnic NewsWatch is available in two resources. Ethnic NewsWatch™ covers 1990 to present and includes newspapers, magazines, and journals of the ethnic and minority press, including Ethnic NewsWatch: A History™ covers the years 1959-1989.
GenderWatch™ offers a wide range of academic, gray, and popular literature covering topics such as gender roles, family, feminism, masculinity, and workplace issues. It represents a diverse range of voices and encompasses over three decades of gender studies, including women's and men's studies, the evolution of the women's movement, the transgender community, gender roles, differences, equity, identity, and masculinity.
Provides abstracts and citations to Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender literature from various sources and includes full-text access to journals, magazines, newspapers, and books.
The following links are archival databases that contain primary sources and include newspaper articles from old issues. Some of the content uis scanned and some of the content is text only.
The 19th Century British Newspapers collection contains full runs of 48 newspapers selected by the British Library to represent nineteenth-century Britain. It includes national and regional newspapers, as well as those from established country or university towns and industrial Midlands, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Newspapers related to political and social movements like Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule, as well as penny papers for working and clerical classes, are also included.
A full-text searchable, facsimile-image database provides a window on events, culture, and daily life in nineteenth-century America. It includes publications from the beginning of the century, covering every aspect of society and region of the nation. This collection features publications by African Americans, Native Americans, women's rights groups, labor groups, the Confederacy, and other interests.
All New York State residents can create a FREE NYPL account that will allow them access to the full ebook and electronic magazine collection. Additionally, NYPL has access to a handful of Newspaper resources. Some are on-site only.
