Advancing excellence in public service. We do this in many ways, primarily through serving as the critical bridge between public administration scholarship and practitioners in the field. All of our services and programs are geared toward supporting our Society's goal to advance the art, science, teaching and practice of public and nonprofit administration. Our mission is to expand and diversify the field of capacity building and build a movement that centers equity and inclusion in nonprofits and communities to help them achieve social change.

APPAM is dedicated to improving public policy and management by fostering excellence in research, analysis and education.

We promote the ideal of public service globally. We want the best prepared students to enter public service, and we want the best faculty to teach and research in our field. Everything we do focuses on these goals.

The National Forum for Black Public Administrators (NFBPA) is the principal and most progressive organization dedicated to the advancement of black public leadership in local and state governments. NFBPA is an independent, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1983. With over 2,500 members, NFBPA has established a national reputation for designing and implementing quality leadership development initiatives of unparalleled success.

The Public Management Research Association (PMRA) is a nonprofit academic membership association that furthers research on public organizations which over the years has substantially increased in size and influence. The Public Management Research Association Conference has become the foremost gathering of leading public management scholars in the US and around the world. In addition, PMRA now publishes the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory (JPART), one of the premier journals in the field. A second journal, Perspectives on Public Management and Governance (PPMG), debuted in 2017.
