Research Data Management

An overview of research data management (RDM) services at Buffalo State University.

Overview

What is Research Data Management (RDM)?

Research Data Management (RDM) contributes to open science by enabling research that is reproducible, reusable, and transparent.

Research funders are increasingly requiring data sharing and data management plans.

In the US, various mandates, including those from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Data Management and Sharing Policy and Office of Science and Technology Policy memo are driving the move toward open data and science. In the European Union, the European Commission is also mandating open access publication

This guide is intended to help Buffalo State University researchers to navigate data management mandates and to embrace open data as defined by Open Knowledge, "Open data and content can be freely used, modified, and shared by anyone for any purpose"
