As a part of The Year of the Innovator (Fall 2014- Spring 2015) at Buffalo State, an exhibit was created to celebrate Alex Osborn, co-founder of the International Center for Studies in Creativity. A permanent version of the Alex Osborn Exhibit is on display in the Creative Studies Collection of Butler Library.
Alex Osborn (1888-1966) was a co-founder of the BDO Advertising Agency and a high-powered advertising executive. While working at the BDO Advertising Agency, Osborn developed and coined the creative-thinking technique known as "Brainstorming." In 1954, Osborn founded the Creative Education Foundation and, in collaboration with Dr. Sidney Parnes, established the Creative Studies Program at Buffalo State. In 2014, the Creative Studies program graduated its 500th graduate.
