What is research data?
NIH DMS Policy defines scientific data as, "the recorded factual material commonly accepted in the scientific community as of sufficient quality to validate and replicate research findings, regardless of whether the data are used to support scholarly publications."
Research data should comply with FAIR principles. That is, research data should be:
- Findable - indexed and assigned a global identifier.
- Accessible - easy to reach through a web browser.
- Interoperable - machine and human readable.
- Reusable - richly described with a clear license.
